Dear Editor: The Sitka Economic Development Association would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate Alaska Day at SEDA’s 9th Annual Alaska Day Brewfest and Chili Cook-Off.
A special congratulations goes to Alex Cagle, this year’s Chili Cook-Off champion, and thank you to all the participants who brought their best recipes and enthusiasm to the event.
We’d also like to recognize the many individuals and organizations who made this year’s Brewfest possible. Thank you to the breweries and distributors who provided outstanding beer and support: Harbor Mountain Brewery, Midnight Sun Brewing, Denali Brewery, Alaska Brewing, King Street Brewery, Matanuska Brewery, and Glacier Brewhouse. We also appreciate Republic National Distribution Company, Odom Corporation, and House of Liquor for their donations and for helping bring the beer to Sitka.
A big thank-you to Elks Lodge 1662 and the Alaska Day Committee for their continued support of the event. We’re also grateful to Sitka Sound Cruise Ship Terminal for providing fencing, the CBC Construction team for assisting with setup and teardown, Aspen Hotels for hosting out-of-town brewers, Seafood Producers Cooperative for supplying ice, and Spenard Builders Supply for providing tables.
Thank you to Juan’s Cuban Cuisine and the Sitka Fastpitch Softball Club for serving great food, and to Tiffany Pearson with Sitka Weddings and Events for her help in planning and running the event. We also appreciate the City and Borough of Sitka and Harrigan Centennial Hall staff for working with us to host another successful Brewfest.
A special shoutout to DJ Meathead and the Alaska Day Pipes and Drums for keeping the crowd entertained, and to all our wonderful volunteers and beer pourers – too many to name – who make this event happen each year.
