Services For
Byron Baty
Scheduled
Services have been scheduled for CWO3 Byron F. Baty, ret., a Sitka resident for 35 years.
Byron passed peacefully from complications of cancer in Issaquah, Wash., at age 74.
“While this is not conventional, Dad was very specific about his funeral plans,” his family said.

When I come to the end of the day
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love and friendships we shared –
Miss me but let me go….
Byron retired from the U.S. Coast Guard on August 1, 1983, after 25 years of service. He will be laid to rest with his wife Lorena at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the Sitka National Cemetery. Honors provided by the U.S. Coast Guard will provide honors.
“Wear a suit to these honors if you must, but he wanted a celebration of his life - so in that spirit, we invite you to honor him by wearing your darkest blue jeans and favorite Seahawks regalia, as everyone knows he was Sitka’s biggest 12th fan,” his family said.
The family requests that Byron’s friends RSVP to his daughter by email at lisacbaty@aol.com or 425-864-5305 so that they are prepared for the gathering.
Friends are invited to share memories, view photos and sign the family’s on-line guestbook at www.flintofts.com.
