Card of Thanks
Dear Editor: Thank you to the SEARHC Home-Based Nursing and Therapy Services for all they did for my husband, Roger, and myself. I was able to keep him home to die with their assistance. Thanks for being patient with all my questions and care concerns. Nurses: Becky, Leslie, Becci, Kate, Danielle and Jamie. Valerie, PT, was awesome in getting borrowed equipment from SAIL and teaching transfers. Thanks to the CNAs, Joe and Glady for being there to make daily living possible and for me to get sleep. Thanks to Brave Heart Volunteers who came to sit with Roger so I could get to appointments and run errands: Ruth and Vern (thanks for playing Roger’s guitar for him), Susan, Dorothy, Michele and Kim.Thanks to Harry’s/White’s Pharmacies/DME for all their kindness and filling medications since January 2023; the hospital bed was so important in making his care possible. Thanks to Dr. John Baciocco for making home visits and guiding us through the dying process. Plus all the outpatient staff who helped with forms and questions before he became home bound. Thanks to Rev. Julie Platson, St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, for coming the morning Roger died to say The Litany At Time of Death with me and the nursing staff gathered. Thanks to all my friends and this community for feeding me, running errands, putting sheets on hospital bed, visiting and hearing my stories. All of these tasks have helped in this difficult transition. If I have missed anyone please know Roger and I are grateful. Blessings to all, Nancy Jo Bleier, Sitka
