Cruise Visitors

Posted

Dear Editor: I was not surprised that capping the number of visitors did not pass. My hope is that the community of Sitka can find a way to meet somewhere in the middle. I like 400,000 to 450,000 as a cap.

The business community ought to be able to thrive on that, the visitors will have a much better time in Sitka. It will not be so crowded. The locals will have a better chance of enjoying summer instead of dodging smelly buses, people who have never ridden an electric bike, and the throngs of people crossing the streets where there are no crosswalks, an accident waiting to happen.

I would hope the balance of need, versus greed, would be attainable with that number. I also hope both sides approach each other to make it work. My two bits. Thank you.
