Wild Foods Potluck

Dear Editor: The Sitka Conservation Society would like to share a thank you poem:
Cloudberry bites, sea otter curry, Kruzof venison ribs, halibut cheeks, muktuk, and herring eggs – the Tongass is a rich landscape that just gives and gives to no end. November’s Wild Foods Potluck facilitated a culinary, sharing space where Sitkans came out to celebrate the wild ingredients available in this wild place.
The Sitka Conservation Society would like to extend an old-growth thanks to all the dear members, businesses, and friends for helping us protect the natural environment of the Tongass while supporting the development of sustainable communities at the benefit for all of us.
In particular to the folks who made donations to the Wild Foods cause: to the Larkspur, Winter Song, Gimbal Botanicals, Alaska’s Own, Murray Pacific, Art Change and Spencer Severson, here’s an applause!
For the judges who tasted and selected the best foods: cheers to Courtney Bobsin, Paul Killian, Jud Kirkness, Wendy Alderson, Marsh Skeele, Tachi Sopow, Fred Fayette, Veronica De La Torre, Kari Lundgren,  Chelsea Wheeler, and Elena Gustafson for your culinary aptitude.
To the Sitka community for coming out, sharing your time and delicious Tongass finds.
We look forward to seeing and dining with you at Wild Foods next year, until then enjoy and thrive off this wonderful landscape, ya hear!
