Coast Guard Party

Dear Editor: The annual Coast Guard children’s Christmas party was a great success. It wouldn’t have been possible without our generous contributors: the Air Station Command/Morale Office, the Maple Command/Morale Office, the Chiefs, the Hames Center and Harry Race Pharmacy.  A special thanks to all of the people who helped make this possible – CPO Dequine, LT Jenks, Chris Belisle, Stephanie Lambdin, Betty Conklin and the party planning committee.
Thank you for your help in making it a special day for the kids.
Susie Belisle, Chairperson
CGSWA of Sitka

Thank You, Sen. Stedman

Dear Editor: The Sitka Republican Women would like to thank Sen. Bert Stedman for his service to District 2 and our community during the past nine years in the Alaska State Legislature. We recognize that he has gone out of his way to learn as much as he could about the issues – especially when it came to Alaska’s ownership of oil and gas resources – and we very much appreciate this level of dedication to his job.
We were privileged to have had his leadership in Senate Finance for so many years. The numerous local projects for which he helped get funding through the capital budget will be appreciated for many years to come. Thank you, Sen. Stedman, for looking out for the state’s interests so well, as well as looking out for Sitka’s financial interests.
We wish Sen. Stedman the best in his new role as chairman of the Senate Health and Social Services Committee. We’re confident that he will continue to serve our community and the state very capably over the next several years in the Senate.
Sheila Finkenbinder, President,
For Sitka Republican Women
