Hospital Stays
Dear Editor: We would like to thank the SEARHC crew while we were in the SEARHC hospital. I was in the hospital for a short while. My husband, Frank, was in the SEARHC Hospital for a short while and had to go to ANMC on a medevac for a procedure. Our daughter Millie was Frank’s escort. She was excellent. My sister-in-law Rosemary went up with me to be in support of me. I’m not a flyer, I am not a big city girl, so she helped me a lot.
Thanks to Rosemary and Millie. Frank got excellent care at ANMC. We’d like to thank 3 South staff, ER staff and SEARHC doctors for being so kind and caring.

Wrestling Invitational
Dear Editor: On Dec. 4 and 5 I was lucky enough to be a part of an amazing event at Sitka High School – the Sitka High Wrestling Invitational. It was an incredible event with over 100 wrestlers from 15 different schools. While the wrestling was amazing, competitive, and fun, one of the most inspiring things for me to see as the new Activities Director was the incredible outpouring of support and help. There were so many people involved to make the event a success, and I would like to be sure they are recognized.
We would like to thank Seamart, Yellow Jersey Cycles, Northern Sales, Food Services of America, and Whites Custom Printing for donating directly to this tournament.
We would like to give a major round of applause to all those former wrestlers and wrestling supporters who helped run the score tables and ultimately the tournament. It was great to see so many former Sitka wrestlers giving back to our current program. Big “Thank yous” to LuckyRae Miguel, Josh Johnson, Jeremy Twaddle, Sam Smith, Cliff Chandler, Clancy Boord, Logan Martinson, Jes Waldenar, Bill Foster, Howard Wayne, and Carl Jordan. Another incredible VOICE for the tournament was Mr. Eric Jordan who did a great job announcing and keeping the meet on schedule – Thank you!
We cannot forget our amazing referees – Jim DiGennaro and Matt Ferster (from Juneau), and the many towel boys who kept those referees on time!
At Sitka High we would like to thank our fearless leader – Lyle Sparrowgrove, the teachers who shared their rooms with visiting teams, our hardworking janitors (we gave you a run for your money this weekend), and all those cheering fans.
Finally, none of this would have run so smoothly without the amazing work put in behind the scenes by all the wrestling parents who singlehandedly ran the concessions, hospitality room, and were able to house and support their own students as well as visiting wrestlers.
It was a fun, busy, and successful weekend due to the outpouring of support by this amazing town. Thank you all for your continued support of Sitka High activities! With gratitude,
Lindsey Jorgensen
