Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today.
December 9
At 9:52 a.m. citizen contact was made at the O’Connell Bridge.
Eight traffic stops were made: at 10:33 a.m. at 700 HPR; at 2:11 p.m. at 1700 HPR; at 4:07 at the O’Connell Bridge; at 4:23 p.m. at McDonald’s; at 4:41 p.m. downtown; at 5:22 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. at Totem Park visitor center; and at 8:17 p.m. in the 2500 block of SMC.
At 7:50 p.m. a traffic complaint was logged on SMC.
At 9:51 p.m. an incident of drunkenness was logged at SEARHC.
December 10
At 2:12 a.m. a bear was reported at 308 Tilson Street.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received six ambulance calls Wednesday and one early today.
In Court
Dennis R. Backstrom, 50, on a Jan. 31 count of violating a domestic violence protective order was sentenced to 150 days, suspended. He was placed on probation for three years.
Nathaniel Scott Coble, 30, on a Sept. 10 charge of unlawful contact was sentenced to 20 days. On a Sept. 10 charge of violating condition of release for a felony he was sentenced to 10 days. A charge of violating conditions of release was dismissed. On a Sept. 6 charge of assault in the fourth degree, causing fear of injury, he was sentenced to 90 days with 60 suspended. On a Sept. 6 charge of violating condition of release for a felony he was sentenced to zero days. Charges of assault in the fourth degree, causing fear of injury; and two counts of criminal mischief in the fifth degree were dismissed by the prosecution. He was placed on probation until Nov. 4, 2022, to run concurrently with the other probation terms. On a May 17 charge of attempted burglary in the second degree he was sentenced to 12 months with six months suspended, ordered to get a behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations. He was placed on probation until Nov. 4, 2023, to run currently with other probation terms.
