Sitka Artisans Market

Dear Editor: Well, another thank you letter – this is just indicative of how great our town is!

The 14th annual Sitka Artisans Market was a success- even with the change in location (Odess/Allen Hall).

First allow me to thank the wonderful and generous people of Sitka who attended the event, and the vendors who all worked so hard to participate and present quality goods. Thank you to the musicians who provided vendors and shoppers with a festive atmosphere at no cost. The Sitka Fine Arts Camp staff were excellent and made the whole process run smoothly – thanks especially to Lauren Havens, Mike Wild and Bill Workman. Thanks to Cindy Edwards for letting people park at Hames. Thank you, Cara Murray, for leading a successful community mural project and Greater Sitka Legacy Fund for sponsoring the mural! Owen Kindig went above and beyond to get the programs printed. Zack Heathman allowed GSAC the use of his van. Thank you, Ben Lawrie, for helping me out-line the booth spaces.

Phillip Rupell of Sitka Convention and Visitors Bureau was an absolute star and gave up his time to help me set up and take down the pipes and drapes. Eric Jarvill, thank you for putting up and taking down the signs, and thanks to Lynne Brandon for letting me hang them up! Thank you Tina at Harry’s Custom Services for help with the banners. Shannon Haugland, Sandy Fontaine, Jessica Gill, Ruth Culp, MEHS LEADS students and Americorp volunteers thanks for your help with the Holiday Craft Party. Thank you, Melinda McAdams and the Studio of Dance, for beautiful demonstrations throughout the craft party! Thank you, Ali Wood, Beata, Shinae Farrell, Margot O’Connell, Bobbi Carlson, Susan Padilla, Breanna Stewart and Sierra Schauer! Thank you to John and Sharyn Ferrick for the use of the tables. Thank you to Kaya Duguay and Kashfia for helping me clean up. I am doing a dangerous thing naming names – I hope I did not forget anyone.

Thank you to the GSAC board, especially Cleo Brylinsky, Pat Hughes, John Stein and Jeff Budd, who all gave up their precious weekend time to assist me – and with smiles on! And, finally, thank you to our corporate sponsors for making this event possible and promoting the arts in Sitka: Bayne Business Works, Foreign Automotive, Alps Federal Credit Union, Precision Boatworks, Chocolate Moose and Sitka Flowers, First National Bank Alaska, Seafood Producers Coop, Eagle Bay Inn, Aurora Business Supplies, Harry Race Pharmacy and Photo, Old Harbor Books and Sitka Mini Storage.

Thank you everyone!
