Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
December 10
At 1:30 a.m. police received a protective order to be served.
At 10:44 a.m. police directed traffic while a semi tried to back out into the road in the 1400 block of HPR.
A caller said her ex was taking items that didn’t belong to him out of her home. She was advised of options.
At 4:37 p.m. a vehicle was reported hindering traffic on Tilson Street.
At 6:12 p.m. an officer reported vehicles were again sliding at Kashevaroff Street and Edgecumbe Drive. Public Works was advised.
A passport found at Harvest Way was returned to its owner.
A caller complained his kids’ mother keeps walking into the home unannounced.
A case has been started on a report of sexual assault.
At 10:26 p.m. a car was reported in a ditch on Naomi Kanosh Lane and Indian River Road. It was moved.
December 11
At 12:57 a.m. fireworks were reported on Etolin Way.
At 12:57 a.m. a man and a woman were reported at Harbor Drive and Maksoutoff Street creating a disturbance. They said they would get a ride, At 1:16 a.m. the man was reported creating a disturbance in the 1200 block of SMC, and the woman said she was walking him home.
At 3:56 a.m. people on four-wheelers were reported at the airport. Officers advised them of options.
At 8:32 a.m. a caller said she’d just hit a parked car on Moller Drive.
At 9:52 a.m. a hit and run was reported on DeArmond Street. The victim declined to press charges.
A lost husky was reported in the 1200 block of SMC. The ACO was advised.
At 3:41 p.m. a driver was reported stuck in the snow on Johnston Street. It was gone when officers arrived.
At 5:36 p.m. a woman said a downtown store employee had spit on her. The employee claimed she’d used a racial slur and was intoxicated.
At 10:03 p.m. three vehicles were reported doing doughnuts in the Petro Express parking area. They were gone when officers arrived.
December 12
At 10:07 a.m. a car was reported stuck in the snow at Hemlock and HPR. An officer helped get it out.
At 10:26 a.m. a dog was reported loose in the 200 block of Katlian. A wildlife trooper got its license number and the owner was located.
At 10:53 a.m. a hotel was told ravens were getting into the trash.
At 11:33 a.m. a man was reported to be urinating while facing the highway in Sealing Cove Harbor. Officers spoke with him.
At 3:36 p.m. fireworks were reported on Harbor Mountain Road.
At 9:33 p.m. a husky was reported running in and out of traffic near Sea ‘n’ Ski Trailer Court. The ACO was advised.
December 13
At 12:43 a.m. a vehicle was reported left parked in the 3800 block of HPR. Officers found a bottle of alcohol in the back seat but no sign of a driver.
Sitka Police
David Skultka, 39, was arrested on a bench warrant on a June 2020 charge of assault in the fourth degree and violating a domestic violence protection order.
June Mukpik, 41, was charged Saturday with driving with a revoked license and violating conditions of release.
Miles McLay, 22, was charged Sunday with driving under the influence.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Friday, three on Saturday, four on Sunday and one this morning.
At 5:13 p.m. Sunday, a car fire was reported at a parking lot in the 1800 block of HPR, but no active fire was found, just an overheated engine, SFD said.
In Court
Karl Turney Burkhart, 63, was placed on probation for one year after a suspended entry of judgment on a 2019 charge of assault in the fourth degree – recklessly injure. A hearing is to be held April 4, 2022.
Chasady Didrickson, 42, on a charge of reckless driving on May 9, 2021, was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, and fined $1,000, suspended. Probation was set until Dec. 8, 2022.
A charge of refusing to submit to a chemical test was dismissed.
