Fundraiser Thanks
Dear Editor: Brave Heart Volunteers would like to thank Alaska Airlines for donating two roundtrip vouchers for our recent fundraiser at the Holiday Made in Sitka Market. The vouchers raised $7,650 and with another $485 in additional donations, we raised a total of $8,135 for BHV.
This fundraiser was very important to BHV. Since the pandemic, BHV has seen a 123% increase in people needing services, but the needs are outpacing private donations. These funds will help us continue serving Sitkans who are grieving, experiencing loneliness, or nearing the end of life, so we are truly grateful to Alaska Airlines for their generosity. We also appreciate everyone who entered the drawing, including the winner, Barbara Blood.
We would also like to thank market organizers Kirsten Haas and Lacey Tuten for their wonderful support of our event. The holiday market proved to be a great avenue for our fundraiser, and Kirsten and Lacey helped make it such a pleasant experience.
We also appreciate the Daily Sitka Sentinel and KCAW Raven Radio for their constant support and publicity of our fundraisers, which we know aids in the success of our events. We could not do it without you!
