    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
December 13
    A caller asked police to notify a man his mother had passed away.
    A caller at the airport reported the theft of about $10,000 worth of camera equipment in a backpack. It was found later at the caller’s home.
    At 5:43 p.m. a caller reported  an erratic driver on SMC. An officer made a traffic stop and found the driver had been looking at Christmas lights.
December 14
    At 1:13 a.m. a caller asked for a check on a friend whose estranged husband was at the friend’s home.
    At 4:09 a.m. a 911 caller reported being depressed and drinking. Officers and EMS responded.
    At 4:38 a.m. a driver on SMC said his car battery had died. An officer helped get the vehicle running again.
    A caller said a woman came into his home looking for someone who didn’t live there, startling the caller and his girlfriend as they slept.  Officers told the woman to stay away.
    A caller reported finding a broken Pelican kayak on the beach at Old Sitka.
    At 11:41 a.m. ER said a patient left the hospital in her hospital gown with an IV in her arm. She was brought back before police responded.
    At 12:42 p.m. a man was reported to have slipped on ice at DeGroff and Monastery, and wasn’t able to get up. He was taken to the hospital.
    At 2:36 p.m. loud arguing was reported heard from a residence on Katlian. Two people in the residence said two other people, who had left, were the ones arguing. Officers found no elements of a crime.
    At 4:50 p.m. a woman was reported slumped over in a vehicle on Smith Street. Officers found she was having some electrical issues with the vehicle, and showed no signs she was impaired.
    At 5:26 p.m. police noted HPR was getting icy, and notified DOT.
    At 7:20 p.m. a resident on Anna Drive reported a bear had just been in his yard, and he was able to scare it off. Officers were advised.
    At 9 p.m. a caller said his girlfriend was on his boat at Eliason Harbor, threatening him. He also said the cook stove had been broken. Officers found the woman was on conditions of release, and took her to the station.
    At 9 p.m. a caller reported a domestic disturbance involving a granddaughter. Officers spoke to the parties and the granddaughter agreed to leave.
December 15
    At 12:29 a.m. a vehicle was reported in the ditch in the 3700 block of HPR. Police found the driver had slid on the icy road.
    An ambulance was called for someone who took too much Adivan.
    A man who left his truck running all night was fine, officers found.
    Bikes were reported missing from the 2800 block of SMC.
    A woman who refused to leave an apartment was given a criminal trespass warning from the manager.
    At 12:10 p.m. a car accident with no injuries was reported in the 800 block of SMC.
    The carcass of a Boston terrier  reported floating in the water off Nelson Logging Road was picked up.
    A man talking to himself and yelling in the 1300 block of SMC was gone when officers checked.
    At 5:40 p.m. a bear was reported at Raptor Way and SMC. Police sounded sirens and an airhorn.
    At 10 p.m. a man said the cord on his heater had been cut, possibly by his girlfriend. The girlfriend then called police to say she’d been trying to repair the heater, and hadn’t cut the line.
    At 10:15 p.m. a 911 caller said her boyfriend was taking heaters from their boat. She was told it was a civil issue.
    An ambulance was called for a young person having a panic attack.
   
Sitka Police
    Izaak S. Needham, 50, was charged Saturday with driving with a revoked license.

In Court
    Royanne J. Wright, 57, was sentenced to 30 days, suspended, for leaving the scene of an accident with damage. She will be on probation one year.
    Johnny E. McCoy, 26, of Las Vegas, was fined $500 for driving with a suspended license.
    Christopher P. Gorup, 43, was sentenced to 180 days, with 150 suspended, on a charge of assault in the fourth degree (reckless endangerment), and 10 days for violating release conditions. He is to pay restitution and seek counseling. He will be on probation for two years and is not to consume alcohol. The following charges were dismissed: interfering with a report of domestic violence, criminal trespass in the first degree (two counts), theft in the fourth degree (two counts), and violating release conditions (two counts).
    Christopher A. Hanson, 45, was fined $500 on a charge of commercial fishing without a 2019 permit in possession.

Grand Jury
    A Sitka grand jury on Thursday indicted Richard A. Forst, 57, on charges of theft in the first degree, a class B felony; and criminal mischief in the third degree, a class C felony.
    Court records state that on March 12 he allegedly committed the crime of theft, the value of property or services being $25,000 or more; and damaged property in the amount of $750 or more.

Emergency Call
    Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances five times Friday, four times Saturday and four times Sunday.
    At 8:35 p.m. Sunday a fire truck was sent to 216 Lance Drive on a malfunctioning furnace, and helped ventilate the house, the fire hall said.
