Police Blotter

    Police received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today:
December 17
    A woman said she’d found some cash downtown and would hold it until someone reports losing it.
    A caller said an inmate told her he’d turn her brother in to Office of Children’s Services if she didn’t bring him an ID.
    A car with a broken window and a flat tire was reported left parked on Cascade Street for a week.
    A 911 caller said a man had kicked in his camper door on Katlian Avenue.
    A driver reported striking a deer and apparently breaking its leg in the 800 block of SMC. Officers dispatched the deer and troopers took the carcass.
    A caller asked for a welfare check on her 84-year-old grandma who was reported to have been in a physical altercation with another woman, and there had been something about a knife being pulled. An officer talked to the grandmother and found no evidence of a crime.
    A caller referenced the possibility of someone selling brand new, possibly stolen, items on social media.
    At 4:50 p.m. a caller said she’d seen in the shadows of Baranof Street what appeared to be a person pulling another person, and someone saying “help.” Officers found no one in the area.
    At 9:30 p.m. a caller in the 3200 block of HPR said a man was trying to break down  his front door and banging on the outside of his house and vehicle. Officers talked to both men, who agreed not to go to one another’s homes.
    A taxi driver turned in a phone.

In Court
    A charge of violating conditions of release filed against Robert Lee Hughes, 31,  was dismissed.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 12:41 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. Monday.
