Police Blotter
The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
December 20
At 8:43 a.m. a motorist was reported stranded at Centennial Hall. Police helped him contact a repair shop.
At 2 p.m. a caller said a battery had fallen out of a vehicle and exploded on the O’Connell Bridge, leaving debris on the roadway. Police helped the driver get back on his way.
A business on Price Street reported finding drug paraphernalia. Police disposed of it.
At 8:10 p.m. a welfare check was requested in the1200 block of SMC.
At 8:54 p.m. a man reported hearing someone trying to enter his home in the 4200 block of HPR, and when he checked he saw someone running away.
At 9:23 p.m. a caller reported seeing a person take property off his deck, on Bahovec Court. The property was returned, and police told the person to stay away from the home.
At 10:42 a caller in the 2900 block of HPR reported hearing six gunshots. Police responded and talked to a neighbor, who also had heard the shots. No source was located.

Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls Tuesday.

Keoki K. Tafaoialii, 35, was charged with disorderly conduct Tuesday.
Donald Kubik, 54, was charged Tuesday with driving with a revoked license.
Sheena Vaughn, 38, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday in connection with a charge of theft in February.
