Police Department
Dear Editor: In reference to the problems in retaining police department employees:
I am certain there is more than one reason, but an obvious one to me or to anyone taking the time to walk through the building is that the City of Sitka has absolutely no respect for the police officers or their health.
I have made these points for years.
Why would anyone stay in Sitka or accept a job in Sitka under those appalling conditions?
It could only get worse in time as the building changes with age.
Sitkans need to stand up for the police department and provide them with a healthy, workable environment.
Members of the Sitka Assembly and the administrator of Sitka need to open your eyes finally and do the right thing.
There is an engineering report done years ago telling of all the problems.
Please act on this and do something now rather than later.
Standing up for the police department and what is right,
Lorraine Inez Lil, Sitka
