Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
December 27
At 7:20 a.m. a 911 caller asked for EMS for a female with a broken foot.
A business on Smith Street reported a truck window was cracked, a possible case of criminal mischief.
At 12:57 p.m. a 911 caller said a female was unconscious, unresponsive and breathing shallowly. She was taken to the hospital.
At 2:33 p.m. a 911 caller reported an overdose in progress at an apartment on SMC. She was taken to the hospital.
At 6:08 p.m. a caller said a small dog had bitten her as she walked in the 800 block of Lincoln.
At 7:22 p.m. a caller said she saw a man standing on the rail of O’Connell Bridge and shouting. Officers responded.
At 8:14 p.m. a medical facility asked for police help with a patient recently brought in who was acting out of control in the emergency room. Officers were taking him to the police station but took him back to the hospital, as he needed medical attention.
December 28
At 2:30 a.m. a caller said a van that doesn’t belong to the neighborhood parks there late at night with just the driver in it, who might be stealing gas from other vehicles. Officers talked to a man matching the description and found no evidence of a crime.
At 4:30 a.m. a caller said neighbors broke into her home and stole parts from her washing machine, causing a flood. She said she wanted officers to talk to her neighbors but later in the conversation said she’d go to the police station the next morning. A few minutes later she called to say she had changed her mind and would like to speak with an officer. While speaking with an officer she said she didn’t want an officer to come to her home.
At 8:44 a.m. a caller said a van that didn’t appear to run was parked on the street at New Archangel and DeArmond with junk around it. An officer talked to a man residing in the van and advised him to clean up the trash. He also told him he was on a city right-of-way and had to move the van.
At 1 p.m. a caller said an orange kayak was floating face up in the water a half mile before Halibut Point Rec. Troopers found the kayak but saw no identifying marks or anyone in the area.
At 1:15 p.m. a caller reported seeing a man yelling and following two females who appeared to be afraid as they headed into the park. Officers spoke to the man, who said he was recording a song into his phone and hadn’t seen any females.
At 1:31 p.m. a caller said a trash can had been knocked over several days before on Kaagwaantaan and birds were getting into the trash. Officers were unable to determine the can’s owner, and cleaned up the area.
A caller said a young man she didn’t recognize had come to her door looking for her granddaughter. She told him she didn’t have contact with the granddaughter, and he left, the caller said. She was advised of her options.
December 29
At 9 a.m. a caller said he’d been jumped from behind around 1 a.m. in the 200 block of Katlian and when he came to his wallet was missing and he had a broken nose. He said he drove himself to the hospital.
A caller said her upstairs neighbor’s dogs had been carrying on, which was unusual as the owner never leaves them alone. An officer contacted the neighbor and found she was fine.
A caller said a car with a flat tire had been parked at 329 Lincoln St. for about a month. Dispatch left a message for the owner.
At 2 p.m. a caller said her boyfriend was being verbally abusive and refusing to leave. An officer spoke to the man, who was intoxicated, and he agreed to leave.
Fire Hall personnel told police a possible suicide was in progress. Officers responded, and a juvenile female and an adult were taken to a facility for voluntary evaluation.
A caller said her husband left his iPad on top of his vehicle at Sealing Cove and it was lost. She called later to say it had been found.
At 8 p.m. a woman who had been left at Camp Coogan said she needed to get back to town. A trooper was notified and said since there was shelter, she had cell reception and wasn’t alone, a night boat operation would not be called.
At 10:31 p.m. a caller said apartment neighbors were being noisy and when she asked them to quiet down they slammed the door in her face. The neighbors also refused to open the door to officers, and a woman in the lobby said she’d been there and a man had locked her out of the apartment. Police left a message for the manager.
December 30
At 5:10 a.m. TSA said a passenger with brass knuckles tried to board. Police took the item for disposal.

Jack Joseph, 30, was cited for driving while his license was suspended.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Hall went on three ambulance calls Friday, two Saturday and seven Sunday.
At 5:20 p.m. Sunday a fire truck was sent to 2950 SMC, and again at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, to 300 Lincoln Street. Both were false alarms.
