Boat Fire Thanks

Dear Editor: So many thanks are due. On Monday, Dec. 27, we lost our family boat to fire. We are thankful that no one was hurt. The outpouring of help and well wishes has been overwhelming.

I want to thank the Sitka Fire Department and the many brave responders to include the Sitka Police Department. The Sitka Police Department was the first on scene and immediately approached the flaming boat to check that the other boats didn’t have anyone on them. A true display of bravery; what a good soul.

The assistance and support that I received from the Sitka Harbor Department has been amazing. What a good group of people. Thank you to the many people who have taken the time and effort to offer help and express their sorrow for our loss. Your thoughts and best wishes are truly appreciated.

So many thanks.

Sonny Cropley and family

Bicycle Pump Track

Dear Editor: The Sitka Cycling Club is excited about progress towards the development of a bicycle pump track and would like to acknowledge the volunteers, organizations, and businesses that are helping to make the Sitka Pump Track a reality.

We appreciate the volunteer drone piloting by Joshua Houston and his donated aerial imagery for site planning. We would like to thank Yellow Jersey, Marble Construction and Sitka CHARR for monetary donations, and the Juneau Community Foundation for award of Douglas-Dornan funds.

These contributions help to meet our financial goals and get us that much closer to developing a bicycle pump track in Sitka in 2022. Happy New Year!

K.K. Prussian, Sitka Cycling Club
