Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

December 29

At 12:28 a.m. an officer who lives in the 4700 block of HPR reported hearing gunshots. Police searched but didn’t find anything awry.

At 1 a.m. a foot patrol was conducted in the 1800 block of HPR.

At 10 a.m. cash found in the Coast Guard air station parking lot was turned in at the police station.

At 2:51 p.m. a vehicle was reported sliding in a driveway in the 2300 block of HPR. Police helped get it to safety.

At 4:46 p.m. a disabled vehicle was reported in the middle of the roadway on Jeff Davis Street. Police helped in getting it moved.

At 7:33 p.m. a man was reported to have slipped and fallen at the Keet ball field, injuring his hip. He was taken to the hospital.

At 10:05 p.m. a vehicle was reported left running with its lights on, on Eliason Loop. The owner was contacted, and was to move the vehicle.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Wednesday.

At 2:57 a.m. Wednesday a truck was dispatched to the 2300 block of HPR, where a vehicle was sliding on ice in the driveway, but the call was canceled as the truck was en route.

At 6:50 p.m. Wednesday a truck was sent to 807 HPR where a caller reported heat in the wall.

At 7:14 p.m. Wednesday burned food caused alarm but no fire at 412 Hollywood Way.

At 1:08 a.m. today a frozen pipe at 4500 SMC set off an alarm. There was no fire.

Michael Pizarro, 53, was charged early today with assault in the fourth degree and interfering with a domestic violence report.
