Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
December 3
Police helped TSA after a gun part was found in a passenger’s carryon. The part was put in a checked bag.
A dead deer found on Knutson was taken to the Raptor Center.
The animal control officer was advised of a fluffy black dog running in traffic, but lost sight of it when it went into an apartment building at 803 HPR.
Police were advised of a case of criminal mischief by a juvenile but the victim didn’t want to pursue the matter.
The animal control officer was flagged down by a citizen looking for a puppy on Seward Street. It was caught and returned to the owner.
A business asked police to renew a criminal trespass notice on a resident.
A hit and run was reported, and a driver was cited after a witness provided a plate number and photos.
A resident received a citation for an instruction permit violation.
At 4:30 p.m. a caller reported being tailgated from Sitka High, by a teenage driver. Police talked to the driver’s father about the complaint.
Police served a domestic violence order.
At 6:50 p.m. a caller in the 2500 block of HPR reported finding footprints in the snow leading to her door, then to some bushes, where she found a man, and ran back to her house. The man was gone when officers arrived. Neighbors reported nothing suspicious.
An ambulance was called for a patient with severe stomach pain.
December 4
At 3:11 a.m. an Alice Loop resident reported losing control of his vehicle due to icy roads and striking a green power box, causing damage to his vehicle. Officers found that it was a large rock, not a power box.
Sitka Police
Shirley Rieta, 68, was cited Tuesday for hit and run.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received calls for ambulances at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday; and 12:59 and 8:43 a.m. today.
