Sitka’s Nutcracker
Dear Editor: I have been going on about Sitka as the Paris of Alaska for quite awhile now – and have a ready list of examples. I have one more now to add to the list – ‘‘The Sitka Nutcracker’’ performances!
I may not be the most objective viewer – but I am certain of this – this last production was as good as you will get to see – here or there or anywhere. Who would imagine, on an island in the middle of “nowhere” that the young talent we have here is so noteworthy? Kudos to the Sitka Studio of Dance: the director, choreographers, backstage crew, the mostly young and a few older performers who are so talented. It is difficult to write anything and express in words the heights of this talent, but I tried. Bravo!
