Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
December 5
At 8 a.m. a man was reported stumbling on SMC. He blew a .387 PBT and was taken to the hospital.
The Blatchley crosswalk lights were reported not working at 9 a.m. Public works was advised.
At noon a man was reported slumped over in his car seat on New Archangel. He was just sleeping after working on the car, he told police.
At 1:45 p.m. a man told police he was trying to get a golden retriever back to its home in the 2400 block of SMC. The owner said the dog could be put back inside the gate at his home.
At 2:35 p.m. hospital ER staff reported a dog bite, but the victim didn’t want to talk when police arrived. ER staff provided information and the ACO left contact info for the victim.
At 2:50 p.m. a caller said a pit bull mix and two small dogs were in her yard on Georgeson Loop, making her uncomfortable. Officers and the owner returned the dogs to their home.
At 3:43 a.m. a resident asked for a welfare check on a man who left work early Monday and hadn’t returned since. The man said he was fine, and had no thoughts of harming himself. He was advised to call if he planned to miss work again.
A domestic violence order was served.
A resident with a PBT reading of .370 was taken to the hospital.
A man with a foot laceration was taken to the hospital.
December 6
At 1 a.m. a caller said his mother’s boyfriend was yelling and being aggressive, and he was concerned about the situation escalating. The man was intoxicated and officers gave him a disorderly conduct warning. He was arrested when another complaint came in.
At 4:50 a.m. a caller said a dog had been barking for three hours in the 2400 block of SMC. Police called the registered owners, who said the dog didn’t want to come in from the yard. They also said the dog was no longer theirs but they’d put it into the garage.
Sitka Police
William Montgomery, 34, was arrested Thursday night on a charge of driving under the influence.
Cipriano Guerrero, 43, was arrested today on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received five calls for ambulances Wednesday and two before noon today.
In Court
Jordon M. Smith, 27, was sentenced to nine years, with four suspended, on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor in the second-contact with a victim under age 13. He was placed on probation for 10 years, and is to register as a sex offender for 15 years. He’s to have no contact with the victim, among numerous conditions of probation. A charge of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree was dismissed.
Kymberil A. James, 38, was sentenced to 15 years, suspended, for driving with a revoked license. He was placed on probation for a year.
