Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
December 7
Police made security checks at Sandy Beach and the Starrigavan boat launch.
At 2:09 a.m. police found a man sleeping in his vehicle at Starrigavan campground. Officers told him he couldn’t be in the campground overnight.
At 2:15 a.m. a man was reported harassing three dogs at apartments on Sawmill Creek. He told officers he was petting the dogs, and walked them for their owner. The animal control officer was notified.
At 5:22 a.m. a parking ticket was issued for a vehicle parked at Lake and Lincoln streets.
At 8:16 a.m. a vehicle was reported stuck in the snow in the 500 block of HPR. Officers helped get it out.
At 8:50 a.m. a vehicle was reported stuck in a snowbank in the 700 block of Lake Street. Officers helped get it out.
At 11:48 a.m. a husky was reported running at large in the 3200 block of HPR. The animal control officer was unable to locate it.
Officers spoke with a resident about a possible mail fraud concerning ID.
At 1:46 p.m. a vehicle was reported stuck in the snow on HPR. Officers helped get it out.
A resident asked for the official report on a December 4 hit and run, for purposes of filing an insurance claim.
A summons regarding a hit and run traffic accident was served.
At 9:27 p.m. a vehicle was reported parked in the roadway in the 2200 block of SMC. Police advised the driver to park the vehicle elsewhere.
December 8
At 2:21 a.m. a Lance Drive resident contacted police about a complaint. He arranged to meet with police later in the day.
