Christmas Bazaar
Dear Editor: The 2014 Annual Christmas Bazaar was our biggest and best in its 34-year history. Sitka Counseling would like to say a big “thank you” to all Sitkans for showing their tremendous support for our organization and the bazaar. We could not have completed this year successfully without our wonderful vendors, staff and especially the community!
The day was filled with smiling faces; it was obvious you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did. We would like to thank Sea Mart/Hames Corporation, AC Lakeside, Lara Fluharty, Harry Race Photo and Pharmacy, Robb Farmer and the Harrigan Centennial Hall staff for their donations which made this event a huge success. All of us at Sitka Counseling look forward to next year. Happy Holidays.

Common Core
Dear Editor: On Dec. 9 and 10, Rep. Lora Reinbold is hosting a Common Core in Alaska – The Scary Road Ahead symposium at the BP Center in Anchorage. Sitka Parents Against Common Core State Standards want to commend Rep. Reinbold for taking the lead on this issue and join her in encouraging everyone to see how this massive federal overreach should frighten every Alaskan.
Sitkan Parents Against CCSS will hold a planning and informational meeting in January. We have contacted Rep. Reinbold and other leaders who are committed to local education about holding a Sitka CSS in Alaska – The Scary Road Ahead symposium later this winter.
