Dear Editor: Just before 9 a.m. Monday morning I was crossing in the crosswalk by Harry Race and I was just about to step off the blacktop and on to the curb and I looked to my left and there was a car making a left turn to go down Lincoln Street. It was a very bad turn. She almost got me and the aluminum pole. I had to take a fast last step.

I believe she was texting because she did not see me or my walking cane. I was really surprised.

She waved her hand and went right on by. I did not get a good look at her face. Everything happened fast. This just to let her know I was lucky and she was lucky too. I do not know what she was doing to take her eyes off the road.
