Dear Editor: The entire summer the huge dormitory for the Mt. Edgecumbe High School on Japonski Island sits empty and unused.
It could be used and rented out for people coming to do summer work. It could be a money maker for the state and the city and help relieve the unbelievable burden of trying to find a place to live for the summer in Sitka.
It would be a win-win situation for the city, for the state and for the hundreds of workers, health-care workers and others who come to Sitka each year. The same is true for the fishing dormitories out by Fortress of the Bears. I don’t see any reason why this could not be done.
I myself am having to give up the good job I wasted a lot of time trying to get because I cannot find any form of lodging whatsoever.
