Dotty Proctor Aragon

Dotty Proctor Aragon, a former Sitka resident, passed from this life on November 18, 2021, in Kenai. She was 92.

She was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Ione, Washington, the daughter of Lois Darrow and Robert Hampton.

In Sitka, Dotty was owner and operator of the Channel Club for 25 years. She had come to Alaska in 1967 with her best friend, Bobbie Whitson, to join their husbands, who had gone ahead and secured jobs at Alaska Lumber & Pulp. The two friends had left Oregon with eight children and three pets and driven to Prince Rupert to catch the ferry.

Dotty loved Sitka and the people who live here. She will be remembered for her quick wit and amazing stories.

Dotty was preceded in death by husbands Jack Proctor and Bill Aragon, daughters Connie Banning and Kelly McKeirnan, son Michael Proctor, and adopted son Ian Harder.

She is survived by son Ron Proctor of Anchorage; daughters Debbie Carlen of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Vikki McLain of Coos Bay, Oregon; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At her request there will not be a service.
