Dear Editor: From Dylan, Alex and myself (Evan). We would first like to say thank you to everyone who aided in our emergency: the dispatcher, doctors, Coast Guard, fire department, and mountain rescue. The entire team immediately took action in helping us and, being from Fort Wayne, Indiana, we are so grateful for that because back home it’s as flat as the ocean. We had no idea what to do for help! So truly, thank you.
Even with this scare, it did not ruin our week here in Sitka. We got here Tuesday, Aug. 18, and while Dylan and Alex never wanted to leave, I needed to be big brother and drag them back home. However, we will absolutely be coming back to this beautiful town and welcoming community. From eating at the restaurants, to shopping downtown, attending events, meeting great locals, exploring museums and parks, and yes, even hiking: thank you Sitka for a week we will never forget.
