Dear Editor: As a long-time Sitkan and former Assembly member, I’m proud to support Katie Riley for a seat on the Sitka Assembly.
I’ve known Katie for many years and have been especially impressed by her recent work in the community—on the Planning Commission, the Sustainability Commission, and through her professional role with the Sitka Conservation Society. Katie already understands how local government functions and has built meaningful relationships with leaders in our local, tribal, state, and federal agencies.
She does her homework – through in-depth research and by actively listening to stakeholders before making decisions. Katie brings strong values and informed opinions to the table, but she’s also thoughtful and open to other perspectives.
I’m confident she will help Sitka move forward on key local priorities, including housing affordability and access to child care. Katie’s dedication, knowledge, and collaborative approach will make her an extremely valuable Assembly member. I encourage you to join me in voting for Katie Riley for Assembly on or before October 7.
