Exchange Students

Dear Editor: I travel to Türkiye and Armenia to visit four former AFS-USA high school exchange students October 18. Meeting them on their own turf, plus their families and friends, is a special opportunity for me to experience a small slice of their country and culture. Their insights and eyes helps me understand a little bit more about people and cultures I know little about.

I will visit Arman from Armenia (2022-23) Ceren and Cemre from Türkiye (2017-18 and 2024-25) and Amra from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2018-19) who is currently pursuing an advanced degree in Türkiye. 

I’d be happy to take any cards or small remembrances from anyone who got to know them during their stay in Sitka and will hand deliver them. They will be surprised and pleased.
