Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

January 31

At 6:46 a.m. the animal control officer dropped off a dog at the airport for a flight to Haines for adoption.

At 8:24 a.m. police responded to a report of a family dispute over who should be at a house.

At 10:53 a.m. a car was reported broken down near Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center. It was to be towed.

A phone was found at Sawmill Creek Plaza. The owner was contacted.

At 11:42 a.m. a disturbance was reported at the library where a person was refusing to leave. Officers escorted the person out of the building.

At 1:36 p.m. a fire was reported on Yaw Drive. Police determined it was a controlled burn.

At 5:40 p.m. a Verstovia Street resident reported her old black shepherd dog had run off.

At 7:50 p.m. a caller reported a woman suspected of being intoxicated was banging on the caller’s front door. The woman was gone when officers arrived.

At 8:33 p.m. fireworks were reported going off in the 2800 block of SMC. Officers issued a verbal warning for disorderly conduct.

February 1

At 3:23 a.m. Public Works said a vehicle in the road was hindering a snow plow from clearing the 600 block of Monastery. The vehicle was moved.

 

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Monday.

 

Coast Guard

A crew from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka medevacked a 78-year-old man with heart problems from Haines to Juneau on Monday.

The Coast Guard launched the helicopter around 9:15 p.m. and picked up the patient around 10:30 p.m. for the flight to Juneau.

 

 

In Court

Bryan R. Joseph, 21, on an Oct. 14, 2021, class A misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief in the fourth degree (property damage ranging from $250 to $749) was sentenced to 90 days with all but the time served suspended. He is to be on probation for a year. He is to obtain a behavioral health evaluation and follow recommendations. On an Oct. 14, 2021, class A misdemeanor charge of assault in the fourth degree (recklessly injure) he was sentenced to 90 days and ordered to get a behavioral health evaluation and follow recommendations. He will be on probation for a year.

Sierra Lynne Greinier, 23, on a Nov. 27, 2018, charge of assault in the fourth degree (recklessly injure), a class A misdemeanor, was sentenced to no time to be served.

Christopher Ryan Stockton, 32, of Klawock, on a June 5, 2021, charge of assault in the fourth degree (recklessly injure), a class A misdemeanor, was sentenced to 180 days with 120 suspended, and will be on probation until Jan. 28, 2024. On a charge of interfering with arrest by force he was sentenced to 30 days, suspended. Two other charges from the same day, violating conditions of release and disorderly conduct, were dismissed by the prosecutor. He is to obtain a behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations, and will be on probation until Jan. 28, 2024. On a March 30, 2021, charge of violating a domestic violence protective order, a class A misdemeanor, he was sentenced to 180 days with 150 suspended, and placed on probation until Jan. 28, 2024. A related charge of violating conditions of release was dismissed by the prosecution. On a March 10, 2021, class A misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, he was sentenced to 90 days with 87 suspended and fined $1,500. He was ordered to complete an integrated behavioral assessment and follow recommendations. His driver’s license was revoked for 90 days and when he regains driving privileges he is to use an ignition interlock device for six months. He will be on probation for the charge until Jan. 28, 2023. On a petition to revoke probation filed March 12, 2021, he was found to have violated conditions of probation by committing misconduct involving a weapon in the fourth degree and driving under the influence. He was ordered to serve 15 days of a 30-day sentence previously suspended.

The following couples applied for marriage licenses in January:

Divorces

Steven Lee Kirby and Allison Renee (Roberts) Kirby were granted a divorce in January.
