Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
February 9
At 6:26 a.m. a driver who was speeding on Harbor Drive was given a verbal warning.
At 7:45 a.m. a caller said a car was parked where kids are active at the skate park. Police checked cameras and found the car was gone.
At 12:07 p.m. a white dog was reported running at large at Charles and Verstovia streets. It was gone when the animal control officer arrived.
Landlord-tenant disputes were reported at 12:39 p.m. in the 2800 block of HPR, and at 1:04 p.m. in the 2800 block of HPR. An officer advised the parties of their options.
At 1:31 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious truck near the Raptor Center. Police found the truck was delivering frozen fish at the center’s service entrance.
At 2 p.m. a National Park ranger reported firewood had been stolen from totem park.
At 4:23 p.m. the animal control officer checked in from Flume Circle, where feral cats have been reported.
February 10
At 2:29 a.m. an officer talked to two individuals taking photos at Whale Park and advised them of park hours.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received seven ambulance calls Wednesday.
Sitka Police
Samuel P. Oktoyak, 32, was charged Wednesday with assault in the fourth degree of a peace officer.
Jack L. Joseph, 32, was charged Wednesday with violating conditions of release on 2021 charges of burglary and theft.
In Court
Charges of vehicle theft in the first degree, violation of conditions of release, and driving with a license canceled, suspended or revoked filed against Cedar Mayo, 22, were dismissed without prejudice by the prosecuting attorney on Wednesday.
