Police Blotter
    The following calls were logged before 8 a.m. today:
February 19
    A calico cat was picked up in the 1300 block of SMC.
    Two people arguing loudly agreed to calm down after talking to police.
    A Ford key and two house keys and flash light were reported missing.
    A Clover point of sales system and other items were stolen from a building in the 200 block of Katlian Street.
    An abandoned bike was found in the 300 block of Lincoln Street. Police left a message for the last owner.
    A resident said someone tried to enter her car. No address was given.
    Police responded at 3:35 p.m. to a report of a car alarm going off with two children inside on Katlian Street. Police talked to the mom and noted the children were old enough to care for themselves.
    A man said he lost his rental car key at the park on Monday.
    At 7:40 p.m. a caller reported icy road conditions out SMC. Police noted roads weren’t very icy and the temperatures were above freezing.
    A resident reported neighbors arguing loudly. It turned out to be people arguing on the phone and there was no sign of a crime.
    At 7:58 p.m. a driver reported a truck behind her was blinding her with its fog lights. Police told the truck driver to turn off his fog lights.
    A Macbook was reported lost.
    At 11:37 p.m. a resident reported a suspicious van on Peterson Street. The van left, and later police gave warnings to the driver for having an obstructed view, and parking for extended periods in a residential neighborhood.
   
Sitka Police

    Charla Bernhardt, 34, was arrested Wednesday night on a charge of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.

In Court

    Ann M. Morris, 35, was sentenced to 260 days, with 245 suspended, for failing to stop at the direction of officers. She was also sentenced to 30 days, with five suspended, and fined $3,000, with $1,500 suspended, for driving under the influence. She is to receive treatment, which may include up to a year in a residential treatment program. Her license is suspended for 90 days, and she will be on probation for a year. Charges of refusal to submit to a chemical test, reckless driving and driving in violation of an instruction permit were dismissed.

Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 10:51 a.m., 12:02 p.m., 4:33 p.m. and 7:48 p.m. Wednesday, and 6:19 a.m. today.
    At 2:51 a.m. today a truck was sent to the Pioneers Home on a false alarm.
   
Coast Guard

    A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter was sent early Monday morning to Craig, where an emergency location beacon had gone off. The source was traced to an unregistered device on a vessel in the north harbor of Craig, and the vessel was not in distress, the Coast Guard said.
