Blatchley Middle School parent-teacher conferences will be Feb. 26-28.
Student-led conferences are 4-7 p.m. Feb. 26-27. Dinner will be served both nights.
On Feb. 28, conferences are by appointment only with grade-level teams. Call 747-8672 to make arrangements.

Rainy Day Bazaar
Tables Available
The U.S. Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association has tables available for its annual Rainy Day Bazaar set 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Centennial Hall.

The Sitka School Board will hold a budget hearing for the community 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Sitka High School library. The School Board is encouraging community members to attend.
‘Slime Line’
Topic of Talk
The Sitka Maritime Heritage Society annual meeting will be Wednesday, March 6, at the ANB Founders Hall.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for snacks, mingling and viewing photos, with the program 7 to 9 p.m. with the topic “The Slime Line: Stories of Loading, Processing, and Packing Fish.”
In the first part of the program, a panel of Sitkans moderated by Eric Jordan, will share their stories of the work of fish processing in Sitka over the years. After the break, audience members are invited to participate with their own stories and questions.
The SMHS will also have drafts of the new boathouse exhibit for comment, historic photos and snacks. T-shirts, caps, and prints of photos by Jana Suchy will be for sale.

School Climate
Survey Online
The Sitka School District is conducting its annual Family School Climate and Connectedness Survey during parent-teacher conferences at all buildings Feb. 25-28.
The online survey is a chance for families to comment on school climate, cultural connectedness, family engagement and opportunities for involvement at school. Principals also will send a survey link to families. The survey begins Feb. 25 and closes March 8. Call Kari Sagel at 752-7323 with questions.
Subsistence Councils
To Hold Meetings
Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Councils will meet early March through late April to develop proposals to change federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations for the 2020-2022 regulatory years, and discuss other issues affecting subsistence in their regions.
The Southeast Alaska Subsistence Regional Advisory Council will meet March 19-21 at the Nolan Center in Wrangell. For more information contact DeAnna Perry, (907) 586-7918 dlperry@fs.fed.us.
