Peratrovich Day Thanks
Dear Editor: The ANB Founders Hall was packed on Elizabeth Peratrovich Day! The Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 1 and Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 4 extend hearty thanks to all those who came out to celebrate Elizabeth Peratrovich Day. We could not have had a more beautiful day!
We are grateful to the Sitka Native Education Program students and teachers leading the parade, the Mt. Edgecumbe High School dance groups, and Chola Moll, and local dance groups, KathyHope Erickson for the keynote address, elder Harriet Beleal for her dedication and long service as past president to the ANB, Skye Workman and the First Baptist Church for coordinating transportation for Sitka Pioneers Home residents to participate in the festivities. We are thankful to the memory of Elizabeth Peratrovich for gaining civil rights for Alaska Native peoples.
We thank the Outer Coast students and staff for set up and food service: Tobias Hunt, Maria Eduarda Gobbi Carvallo, Nicolli de Lourdes Silva Figueivedo, Tukaan Dan, Lucas Opgenorth, Slay Bukowski, Chawanzi Murvina, Ann Marie Hill, Jazz Brown, Maddie Gillisie, Sam Walker, Shay Pukawski, Nadine Fikrah, Gori Yu Goto, Yeil T’ooch Tl’aa, and community member Ron Reda. We appreciate Lori and Steve Kramer, and Karen Lucas for cooking up the delicious rockfish.
We appreciate greatly the donation of 100 pounds of the finest vacuum-packed rockfish from Sitka Sound Seafoods, the lovely and artistic sheet cake from Sea Mart bakery, and the traditional Pilot Bread with peanut butter and jam from AC Lakeside, and Susan Litman for contributing.
A certain peace, brotherhood and sisterhood, filled the hall that day, for which we give thanks.
