Police Blotter
The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
February 23
At 2 a.m. a security check was made at Harbor Mountain Road and HPR.
At 9 a.m. a welfare check was requested for a woman who had no heat at her home. Police found she was fine.
At 2:48 p.m. a caller in the 1700 block of HPR said a neighbor was cutting down a salmonberry bush. Police found the bush was not on the caller’s property and advised the caller on options.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Thursday.
At 9:20 p.m. a caller reported a boat fire at ANB Harbor. A story is on page 1.
In Court
Ashley Nicole Griffith, 31, of Amarillo, Texas, was sentenced Wednesday on an Aug. 27, 2022, charge of driving under the influence. She was sentenced to 30 days with 27 suspended and fined $2,000 with $500 suspended. She is to complete an integrated behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations. Her driver’s license was revoked for 90 days, and after regaining driving privileges she is to use an ignition interlock device for six months. She will be on probation for one year.
