The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
February 24
At 8:18 a.m. a man was reported sleeping, his head out the window, in a vehicle at Harbor Mountain Bypass and Kramer Avenue. He was awakened and appeared to be OK.
A caller on Lake Street said someone had stolen fuel from a fuel tank. Police opened a case.
At 6 p.m. a caller said a snow plow had hit a vehicle, at Edgecumbe Drive and Wortman Loop. The drivers exchanged information.
At 9:08 p.m. two persons were reported passed out in restrooms in the 1800 block of HPR. One was taken to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.
February 25
At 8:26 a.m. a driver said he’d seen on social media that it was being reported he’d been in a hit and run on Metlakatla Street. A case was opened.
A report of sexual abuse of a minor is being investigated.
A caller on Marine Street said a driver had parked in his private parking space, and apparently used the vehicle to push the caller’s vehicle out of the way.
At 11:14 a.m. a scuffle was reported between two people near the library. Neither wanted to press charges.
At 12:07 p.m. all the traffic lights at HPR and Katlian were reported stuck on red. Police notified DOT.
At 1:13 p.m. a caller reported a driver was obstructing at Lincoln Street and Harbor Drive. Police talked to the driver.
At 2:50 p.m. a two-vehicle traffic accident was reported at Lincoln and Katlian streets, with damage resulting. Police are investigating.
February 26
At 7:18 a.m. a caller said a vehicle had been left running for about an hour on American Street.
At 11:30 a.m. two minors were reported driving and drinking on Marine Street.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls Friday, two on Saturday, and two on Sunday.
At 5:52 p.m. Friday a propane leak was reported in the 1200 block of SMR. It turned out a valve was open, and it was closed.
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter Friday afternoon medevacked a 65-year-old man with a head injury from Haines to Juneau.
District 17 headquarters in Juneau received the call and notified the Air Station at 1:33 p.m. The helicopter launched soon after, arrived in Haines at 4:38 p.m., and landed in Juneau with the patient at 5:41 p.m., the Coast Guard said.
