Carbon Offset Fund

Dear Editor: I am a concerned citizen of our dear planet earth. I understand that driving in cars and flying in airplanes and, in general, how we live, greatly impacts the air we breathe, which sustains us and all life around us!

We are expecting our first grandchild and would like nothing more than to be in Atlanta when the baby arrives. That means that we will contribute to a lot of carbon being released into the atmosphere because of our travels … I feel guilty.

One way to offset my carbon footprint is to make a donation to the Carbon Offset Fund, a project I’m excited to have recently joined.

The Sitka Carbon Offset Fund uses donated contributions from travelers to reduce Sitka’s carbon footprint. The funds raised allow us to lower CO2 emissions in Sitka by helping families, businesses, and organizations convert from oil and gas to local hydro-electricity and become more energy efficient.

You can contribute to the fund, like I did, or if you are from a household interested in installing a heat pump in your residence, contact: carbonoffsetfund.com.

Every little bit we can do helps!

Toby Campbell, Sitka
