    The following calls were logged before 8 a.m. today:
February 5
    At 9 a.m. a high school principal asked for help finding a truant student who might be on a boat in ANB Harbor. Officers found no one on the boat, and advised the mom the girl needed to go to school.
    A criminal trespass was signed after a theft was reported at a hostel.
    A school official asked for a welfare check on a student. Officers talked to her mother.
    At 12:49 p.m. a resident said her ex wouldn’t leave a business when asked. She was gone when officers arrived and no further help was needed.
    A criminal trespass was served and a stolen bike was picked up by police at Eagle Way and SMC.
    At 3:22 p.m. a large smoke plume was seen over Anna Drive, but it turned out to be a controlled burn which was registered with the fire department.
    At 7 p.m. a man and woman were reported arguing at the skate park. Officers found no signs of a crime.
    At 7:09 p.m. a caller said people were setting up a tent on private property on Kaagwaantaan Street. Police found an assembled tent, but no one in the area, and were to check back later.
    At 8:32 p.m. a man asked for help getting back some items that a woman had taken from his home. Police retrieved two items from the woman.
    At 9:19 p.m. an intoxicated man was reported staggering over the bridge. He was taken to the hospital.
    At 10:06 p.m. a 911 caller asked police to remove an intoxicated woman from his home. She agreed to leave.
February 6
    At 12:22 a.m. police checked on a man who had left the hospital against medical advice. He was found to be able to care for himself, police said.
    At 1:45 a.m. a 911 caller said someone was trying to enter her home. She said she could hear someone at the door, and her cat was acting oddly. No one was around when police arrived.
    At 4:27 a.m. a resident said someone might be prowling around her vehicle on First Street. She said the vehicle’s lights were on and her motion-sensor lights had gone on.

Sitka Police

    Russell Ruuti, 39, was charged Tuesday with violating a protective order.
    Amanda R. Skultka, 32, was arrested early today on a charge of violating release conditions by allegedly consuming alcohol.


Emergency Calls

    Sitka Fire Department dispatched an ambulance at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday.
