Police Blotter
Sitka Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today.
February 5
A caller said her vehicle’s back window was shattered.
A resident said his wife had been scammed. (Story on page 1.)
A burglary was reported at a Price Street business but officers determined it was a civil issue.
At 2 p.m. a caller complained about a driver failing to use turn signals, stop at a stop sign, and turn properly, around the 1200 block of SMC.
A man was heard asking passersby for money at 2:38 p.m. on Lincoln Street.
A store employee asked to sign a criminal trespass form against a man swearing and yelling inside a Lincoln Street store around 5 p.m.
A Harbor Mountain street resident called police at 7 p.m. to report a neighbor screaming obscenities at her and refusing to leave. Police talked to both parties, and gave the neighbor a disorderly conduct warning. Both were advised to remain home for the evening, and refrain from communicating with each other for the rest of the night.
At 7:44 p.m. a caller complained a disabled vehicle was posing a traffic hazard at the Katlian Street light, with no owner in sight. The vehicle was pushed out of the roadway by officers and the owner was warned it would be towed if not moved. Shortly later the owner picked up the keys at the station, and was advised of the proper course of action if her vehicle broke down again.
At 8:30 p.m. a caller said the Lincoln Street traffic light stayed green for 10 minutes. DOT was advised.
February 6
At 2:10 a.m. a fish processing boat was reported sinking. Police found it was low in the water, and harbors called the owner. However, the owners said it was sitting low in the water intentionally.
At 6:40 a.m. police were asked to perform a welfare check on a woman having trouble communicating in Facebook. Police talked to the woman’s friends about the issue.

Sitka Fire Department received calls for ambulances at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday and 8:01 and 8:23 a.m. today.
