February 7, 2022, Police Blotter

Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

February 4

At 10 a.m. a man was reported not letting people enter a medical facility. Police gave him a disorderly conduct warning.

A case of fraud is being investigated.

At 3:26 p.m. a man was reported having a verbal dispute with a security officer at a medical facility. Police found nothing of a criminal matter.

At 10:50 p.m. a fight between two men was reported at a downtown bar. Both men later were trespassed indefinitely from the bar.

February 5

At 12:06 a.m. a caller said he wanted a woman removed from his home. Police helped her find a place.

At 2 a.m. a caller reported a water pipe had broken and was flooding a downtown apartment.

At 7:15 a.m. a caller reported losing a tire in the 700 block of HPR. A tow truck was called.

At 10:09 a.m. a woman reported having trouble with her husband. She was advised of options.

At 8 p.m. a caller said his juvenile daughter had taken off. He called later to say she had returned.

February 6

At 1 a.m. a caller reported a man might be suicidal. Officers located the man downtown, and he agreed to go home.

At 3:07 a.m. officers found a vehicle parked partially in the roadway in the 1200 block of SMC. Officers saw that the steering console was torn, and talked to the owner, who is out of town and had given friends permission to use it. 

A cell phone found in the 100 block of Lincoln Street was picked up by the owner.

At 5:03 a.m. a driver complained of a pothole in the 700 block of HPR.

At 1 p.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on a woman who had not shown up for church and wasn’t answering her phone. Police contacted her and found she had overslept.

A caller said a parent had assaulted her. The two were separated for the  night.

A woman called from out of state asking for a welfare check on her daughter. Officers contacted the daughter and found she was fine.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received two ambulance calls Friday, one Saturday and four Sunday.

On Sunday at 5:51 p.m. smoke was reported at the Westmark. It was found to be a boiler issue, and maintenance was contacted.

 

Sitka Police

Haley R. Gallant, 20, was charged Friday with driving with a revoked license and violating conditions of release.

 

In Court

Aaron Keith Didrickson, 33, on a March 18, 2018, charge of assault in the third degree, causing fear of injury with weapon, a class C felony, was sentenced to four years, suspended, and placed on probation for five years. Charges of assault in the first degree (serious injury, weapon); assault in the second degree (injury with weapon, intent); and theft in the second degree (firearm/explosive) were dismissed without prejudice by the prosecuting attorney.
