Posted

Frank Neil Kimball

Frank Neil Kimball, a lifelong Sitka resident, died here Sept. 21 at age 52.

Services will be at a later date.

Frank was born July 11, 1968, in Sitka, the son of Kenneth Neil and Shirley Joy (Smith) Kimball, who had  moved here in 1960.

Frank attended Sitka schools from kindergarten through 12th, graduating from Sitka High School in 1986. Right after graduation, Roger Sudnikovich of S&S Construction hired him and got him into the 302 Operators Union. His career as a heavy equipment operator launched, Frank also worked with Conner Nelson at Keystone Associates Inc., at Western Marine Construction, and with many other construction companies in Alaska.

Among Frank’s interests were boating and hunting – and his many dogs.

Frank was a loving son and brother, uncle and cousin, his family said.

His survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Shirley Kimball of Sitka; and siblings and their families: Michael Kimball of Fresno, California, and children Kara and Nicole Kimball; sister Karmon Conatser of Rice, Washington, and children Travis and Tom Conatser and Tamara Kyle; and sister Tamara Eliason of Sitka and children Jorgen and Nicholas Eliason and Lindy Eliason-Hansen. Also surviving are companion Linda Ozawa and many friends and co-workers in the construction business around the state.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to a charity of choice.
