Frank Weaver
Dies in Idaho
Francis Matthew “Frank” Weaver, 75, resident of Sitka, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015, at his summer home in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Frank was born on May 1, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to Frank and Genevieve Weaver. He grew up in Sarasota, Florida, where he learned to race sailboats - which instilled a life-long love of the ocean where his ashes will be scattered at a later date.
Frank proudly served his country as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force and thereafter as a Police Officer for 27 years in Florida, Idaho, and Alaska - where he retired from the Anchorage Police Department.
He also worked as a mechanic, and as a fine craftsman could fix and build most anything.
His gift of storytelling and vast knowledge of history enriched many lives, and as an avid reader he could often be found with a book in his hands.
Other hobbies included photography, sketching and building/flying RC model airplanes - as well as hunting and other outdoor activities.
As a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, he especially enjoyed spending time with the men’s fellowship group where he often helped cook traditional Polish/German meals.
Frank is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane Weaver; his children (and spouses) Matthew (Bibi), Tom, Katherine, Tammy, Rebecca (Lenny), Bonny, Sharon (Tony), Daniel (Rachel), and Kristopher; as well as 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. The family asked that friends visit Frank’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign his guest book.
