Sitka High’s gymnastics team competed in Juneau over the weekend, and brought home multiple medals in the process.
“Our girls represented Sitka proud!” team coach Trisha Bessert said. Nineteen team members competed.
Both Melody Peacocke and Lily Mayo snagged platinum medals.
Gracelynn Friske, Zoe Tydingco, Emma Huer, Jeneya Arce, Taryn Fleming, Hawlet Cohen, Lorelai McLeod, Jaira Costelo, Evangelina Estes, and Jamison Dunn all came home with gold medals. Arce placed in all events.
Silver medals went to Myla Pittser, Iona Ferrency, Kiera Watson, Marina Marley, Jasmine Wolfe and Cheyenne Greenhalgh, with Watson and Greenhalgh placing in all events.
Bessert noted that since the previous competition in April, “gymnasts have been working hard on skill upgrades and new routines. The Juneau competition was very rewarding experience.”
The team’s next big travel competition will be in Wasilla in January, but the team has a home meet in Sitka, Saturday, Nov. 9, from noon to 3 p.m.
