Dear Editor: The Sitka Homeless Coalition is having a fundraiser for our new community services building on Jarvis Street at the Hítx’i Sáani, or Little Houses site, this spring and summer. We have a special $10,000 match that we are trying to meet by May 31 so we can essentially double our money.
This new building will have an apartment for our on-site caretaker, staff offices, a small laundry area, an office for supportive services such as substance abuse and mental health counseling, and a communal kitchen area for group gatherings.
We appreciate all of the support over these past three years to get our little houses built. We truly couldn’t have done it without you and were counting on your support again. Please donate this week. Go to sheltersitka.org and look for the donate button in the upper right corner. Click on Raise our Roof to donate. Gunalchéesh!
