Dear Editor: Since last weekend, joint Israeli-U.S. strikes have killed more than 1,230 people in Iran. One of the first strikes hit a girls school in southern Iran, killing at least 175 people, most of them primary school girls.
The Trump regime has offered a number of conflicting justifications for the attack on Iran. But it still doesn’t seem to have settled on why the U.S. is now at war. This is the ninth time that Trump has ordered the military into action since he returned to the White House a year ago.
While it’s easy to feel hopeless in the face of yet another devastating war, history clearly shows that people-powered movements are how we end authoritarianism and build a better democracy. Join with friends and neighbors this Saturday, noon to 1 p.m., at the roundabout, to protest this senseless war, and demand an end to the ongoing and escalating chaos, violence, bullying, and abuse of the Trump regime.
Action is an antidote to despair! Just showing up and being there is important and makes us stronger. Bring a sign or just stand with others committed to peace and democracy. The vigil is held weekly.
And hold the date: We are showing up together again on March 28 for No Kings 3. Details to follow soon!
