Rev. Jim Drury

Dies in Utah

The Rev. James Drury, 67, pastor of Sitka Lutheran Church from 1992 to 2008,  died April 7 from complications related to major heart surgery.

His passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by his wife, Linda, family, friends, and clergy, Sitka Lutheran Church said.

“He will clearly be missed by all who know him,” a church spokesperson said.

“Members of the Drury family, members of his Utah congregation and members of Sitka Lutheran Church ask you to keep the Drury family and friends in your prayers.”

His friend Harvey Brandt, a member of the Sitka congregation, wrote, “Jim Drury had many friends throughout the United States and in different parts of the world.  Jim will be remembered for his wonderful singing voice and his playing skill with one of the many guitars from his multi-faceted guitar collection.”

Jim’s funeral will be held 1 p.m. April 16 at the church he has served since 2008, Ascension St. Matthew’s Episcopal Lutheran Church in Price, Utah.

Plans for a local memorial service are pending.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Ascension St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 522 Homestead Blvd., Price, Utah, 84501-2261.
