Obesity Epidemic

Dear Editor: The obesity epidemic gives U.S. a black eye – The world laughs; imagine a super power with this albatross!? The boardwalk at Atlantic beaches on a sunny summer day – like walking amidst a heard of hips bouncing and rolling along. We’ve really been had by three icons which have collaborated and conspired to stick it to us.
The auto – started innocently 115 years ago so cute and revolutionary. Now they own the U.S. and the world. We can hardly do anything or go anywhere alone. They can park themselves and will soon be drones nonstop, three  or four per household. Walk is a dirty word; how can we not gain weight. And they so pollute and kill millions.
Food – meant as a necessary fuel for our bodies. Taken in reasonable portions and venerated for its variety, not continuous orgies like hogs stuffing their gullets. The same beautiful bodies bestowed at birth are stretched to the limit. Tastebuds overwhelmed. Americans have become ‘‘hamericans,’’ oink. While killing millions of animals almost as fast as we can eat them. Instable, sadistic.
Then our beloved TV – 40 feet wide. I estimate 50-60 percent of airtime (basic cable) is commercials and 70 percent of those are for cars and food. There is no escape. Buy their wondrous supersized foodies and sugary horrors. Don’t they want our kid and theirs to grow up healthy? Lower 48 friends, break the circle. As a New Year’s revolution, put an exercise machine by the TV, go to grocery less and with a plan. Don’t surf the miles of aisles. Be USA – United Slim American – hike or ride a bike with a trailer for kids, parcels.
For those who must have a car, there is an incredible newcomer – the electric. No more thousands of ugly dealerships and repair shops and parts an accessories just to haul you cross town. And gone, gone, gone is that nasty expensive, explosive fuel. More good news: kids’ school menus are improving. If your car is not (totally) electric, it’s caveman.
More! An amazing act. Wow! All our presidents are lean and trim role models though they must attend countless state dinners. Way to go, el presidentes.
