Janice Lynne Davis Dies; Former Sitkan Was 80

Former Sitkan Janice Lynne Davis, 80, passed away peacefully at the Anchorage Pioneer Home on February 13, 2025.

Lynne was born on September 16, 1944, in Fitzsimmons, Colorado, to Berly and Charles Bushey. Growing up in a military family, Lynne moved frequently before her family eventually settled in Aurora, Colorado. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1961 and pursued her love for the arts by attending art school. Ever practical, she also trained as a nurse and became a licensed nurse practitioner.

Lynne married Stanley Davis, and together they moved to Sitka. Sitka quickly became home, and she immersed herself in the art community. She was an active member of the Baranof Arts and Crafts Association, and dedicated much of her time to early childhood education, working at 3 to 5 Preschool and later serving as the director of SEARHC Daycare.

She returned to school, serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer before completing her degree. She went on to work at the University of Alaska Southeast Sitka Campus Learning Center, where she supported and inspired students until her retirement.

She leaves behind a daughter Kimberly; sons Camden and Cullen; and grandchildren Darin, Joshua, Sydney, and Chance, all of Sitka. She also is survived by her sister Joyce Serravo, of Aurora, Colorado; nieces Michelle and Alan Long of Aurora, and Angela Serravo of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; and nephew Michael Serravo of Leavenworth, Kansas.

Lynne requested no services but given her love of rescue animals, a donation could be made to Friends of Sitka Animal Shelter in her memory. She will be deeply missed.
