The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
January 9
At 9:19 a.m. a man was found sleeping inside a bank lobby. He was asked to leave, and he complied.
At 11:23 a.m. a caller reported a kidnapping. Police found it was a civil issue, involving police in Oregon.
A car tire was reported to have been slashed on the SJ campus. It’s being investigated.
At 3:18 p.m. criminal mischief was reported on Mills Street. It is under investigation.
A found property call came in at 3:21 from the 100 block of Lincoln Street.
An animal call came in at 3:39 p.m. from Peterson Avenue and Edgecumbe Drive.
At 8:33 p.m. a boat was reported to have had a collision at Thomsen Harbor. The harbors department was notified.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Monday.
Sitka Police
Jason Sigmund, 40, was charged Monday with violating conditions of release.
In Court
Osman Ariel Casco, 33, on a Dec. 30, 2021, charge of burglary in the first degree in a residence was sentenced to three years with two years suspended. The offense is a class B felony. Casco is to make restitution to the homeowner, and have no contact with him or his place of business. He was placed on probation for three years, and is to obtain a state-approved integrated behavioral health assessment.
Charges of arson in the second degree, damage of a building with intent; criminal mischief in the third degree; and three counts of violating condition of release for a felony were dismissed.
