Tourism Survey
Dear Editor: I took the online survey about tourism.
I was appalled at how biased it was against tourism.
I wasn’t able to answer some of the questions because they were worded as if I was against large numbers of tourist. I feel as though the survey is not valid and should be redone and presented by a non-biased group.
I am for as many tourists that want to come to Sitka should be permitted to come, with as quiet and as non-polluting buses as possible.

SEARHC Meeting
Dear Editor: The following paragraph is copied from the KCAW news report Dec. 15 (archived under the local news tab.) The headline reads, “SEARHC Defends Home Health closure at Sitka Assembly meeting, December 12.”
“SEARHC passed on a recent town hall on the future of home health hosted by the Woman’s Club. SEARHC was invited to participate and answer questions, but did not send a representative. Dr. Bruhl (Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer) said that was because of SEARHC’s “commitment to process.”
As reported, this process is a once per year meeting where the Sitka Community Health Council, established when SEARHC merged with Sitka Community Hospital, provides a public forum where we, SEARHC’s customers, may ask questions and get answers. Dr. Bruhl told members of the city Assembly that the next Council meeting would be in January.
There’s a chance I missed them, but at the time of this writing, I cannot find any public notice about the upcoming meeting on the KCAW community calendar, Daily Sitka Sentinel or the SEARHC website. The clock is ticking and I would like to know, where and when this public meeting will take place, well in advance, for my own planning needs.
